some neuroscience readings of late

a couple of neuroscience notesnotes from the past six months or so:

jeff hawkins finally got his cortex modeling company's website
together with videos, code and whitepapers. here's one that describes their system, HTMs and belief propagation.

here's a link to a great paper in nature by okhi et. al. on Functional imaging with cellular resolution reveals precise micro-architecture in visual cortex.

another paper by riesenhuber and poggio on an implementation of the visual cortex. hawkins calls it an inspirational approach but suggests his htm system is more expressive.

i was also reading some interesting stuff on hubel and wiesel.

shane sent me this great paper on perceptual pleasure and the brain a while ago.

finally, i'm in the middle of a biography by eric kandel called 'in search of memory.'
